95 k1500 305 to 350

so i just picked up a 95 k1500 extended cab 4wd 305 5spd off my buddy the trucks lifted 4.5 inches on 35s the 305 doesn't have enough power to drive on the road really or cruise down the highway so i want to build a mild 350 just cam heads and headers really what do i need to do this swap this is my first chevy ever so i don't know much about them really any help would be greatly appreciated

That sounds like something is wrong with it if it's having that hard of a time moving down the road.

As far as I know it should be a direct swap - the blocks are identical from the outside. The only differences I know of are the bore size, the cam, and the intake valve size. The only thing I can think of is that you'll probably need a 350 tune in your PCM.

Yep, externals are the same, if you get a donor engine, it'll bolt right in. Computer may need to be tuned also but I have heard people just running them and letting the computer learn the new engine.

Maybe truck had like some 3.08 gears originally? Who knows what the "equivalent" ratio is now with them big 'ol tires?!
