i have been getting parts together for about a year and been working on her so i though i would share my build.
picked up this 91 with 275k in the clock. really nice for the age and miles. i know the guy that owned it for a long time and its been taken care of for the most part. truck just had a gm certified transmission installed about 4k before it got it. has the 7.4 tbi bigblock. was surprised i was getting 10-12 mpg on the highway. i used this truck for a bout 2 years hulling my trailer to shows and for other projects. started to have a problem with it jumping out of lockup and slowly got worse. finally found the TC was going out. so i decided to build it the way i wanted it. plan is just a nice tow rig and all around work truck. its getting a fresh engine and trans. all new suspension with a 6/8 drop. fix my crappy 5th wheel plate and weld it into the notch. paint and change the inside color form the ***** red to gray. so far i have the full engine built by my buddy at CRD performance and the trans "4L80" was build by a local gm trans guy. i upgraded the clutches and got the HD torque converter for it too. right now i have the frame painted up front and the suspension finished. going to paint the firewall tomorrow and get ready to set the engine in. any input is helpful.
when i first got it
this was just before i took her apart. made a few changes but nothing much
the fresh engine ready to drop in.
front end off and ready to strip
frame stripped and ready for paint
painted
all new PP bushings and proforged ball joints installed
djm spindles, coils and drop shocks installed along with PP swaybar bushings
i talked to roy at .rvmorsemachine.com and he set me up with a set of flow matched injectors, adjustable pressure reg, and his fuel gauge setup.
i will try to keep this updated as much as i can, thanks for checking it out.
