I have a 1991 Chevy c1500, originally a 4.3tbi, however I recently swapped to to a 5.7tbi junkyard engine. So far I have got it running and everything seems to be working okay other than it smelling like it is running really rich. From other post I have read about this swap everyone recommends to replace the PROM chip.

My question is if anyone here knows someone who could either program me a chip, or has one that will fit my truck. The truck has a manual 5 speed transmission and the ecu service number is 16144288. I have looked all over ebay and all the PROM chips seem to be for the 4l60 or 4l80 or they seem to be for a different ecu.

According to this, your ECM is for 4.3L engines only.

You need one like the 1227747 which will run 5.7L as well...

Would you happen to know if it is plug and play. After i get the PROM chips for the 1227747?
I don't know, I'm not familiar with the 4.3L (or that ECM). You'll have to check the wiring diagrams and, possibly re-pin some. That's no big deal.

It may be time to upgrade your ECM, you'll need the 1227747 and send it in, he'll upgrade it and, with a lot of documentation, you can tune your on your own.

Here it says yours is compatible and may only need one pin moved.
