I've got a 95 chevy with a 6 inch lift and 35's with 3.73 gears in it now. What do you guys think about 4.56 gears? Trucks a little slow now but will the new gears make it move like stock and bring me back to where I was mpg wise because I'm getting about 230 miles to a tank now.

4.56 gear will get you to 2100 RPM at 70 MPH in overdrive (assuming 4L60E trans). So it would get you pretty close to how the 3.73s were on stock tires.

One of my friends had an 08 Silverado lifted with 33" tires, he went from 3.42s to 4.56. Made a huge difference in how it got off the line, and how it held OD on the highway.

I run 4.56 gears and 35" boggers. As long as you have overdrive you'll love it. If you have a th400 like me it will be turning some major rpms on the highway.

Same setup and the same situation. Swapping out to 4:56's will be my next modification. Feels like I'm always pulling a 5000lb trailer turning 35's with 3:73's.

Im running 33s with the stock 3.42 gears and it sucks. Im switching over to 4.56s this summer. My biggest complaint now is how the trans is always going in and out of lockup and downshifting just to drive through town. its ruining the trans

I run 4.10's with 35" tires, I personally wouldn't go any lower then that.

I guess it all depends on your driving style, I normally drive 75-80mph on the freeway.

I run 6" suspension, 3" body, 35's and 4:56's. Does depend on driving style and usage. My opinion is 4:10 for me at altitude and mountains would not cut it. If you go in the mud 4:56 are okay but still not that much power. Best Miles to a tank i ever got with this set up was 368, but i ran it very low and it was all the way back from rocksprings WY so it was slightly downhill. Other than that i normally get just over 300 a tank.

If you get your 35s in the mud at all you'll want those 4.56 gears. I have a 460hp 383 and I run my truck at the mud bogs and you can hear me having to downshift. Here's a video from 2 weeks ago.

Oh it's wicked fun. Don't sell your tbi short though. In the lower rpms, they'll make as much power as a Vortec. You just need the gears. Here's another video from last weekend at Sundog Trails. This entire video is 1st gear only in 2wd. You can see that even with the 4.56s you can still get wheel speed!!
