Hello all. So i swapped a 1994 4L60e into my 1985 K10 after marrying it to a 92 tbi 350 (Meaning a lot of places this could have gone wrong). Finally to the point of road testing after i got the engine running nicely....but it wont go into any gears.

Motor doesnt flinch with shifting. I rebuilt the transmission before dropping it in (1st and only time ive ever rebuilt one). Didnt seem to have any trouble with the rebuild, but now i wanna cry haha. Fluid is the cold section while at idle. When i first filled it it did drop after starting the engine giving me the illusion that the pump works. But with not getting a thing from her now im afraid it is the pump.

Im hoping my friend has a test gauge i can screw into the port and get some readings, but i was wondering if there were any other thoughts on what this could be? PCM signals maybe? When i pulled my autometer temp sender from the test port to reinstall the stock plug (hoped it was just pinching flow) i did get some atf leak out. Which leads me to think it is circulating fluid.

Without a PCM plugged in the trans should have 3rd gear in forward and reverse in reverse. If you don't have that you screwed the pooch on the rebuild. 4L80 would have 2nd in forward.

I may have had a brain fart on how much ATF i put in. I just dumped another 2.5 quarts in and now im reading 100psi at startup, then after a few seconds is balances at 50. I can here it grabbing reverse and drive now. What are the pressures i should be getting? Im almost certain i need to add more atf still.

This transmission has been sitting for months and i can remember how much i initially put in.

You didn't check the stick? It'll drop once you move the truck and the fluid hits every gear, then rise as it warms, but if there's nothing on the stick then you're not even close.

I had fluid on the stick. The bottom of the cold section. I said screw it and dumped in more to see what would happen and the level didn't rise any...so im trying to think back to when i installed it onto the frame how much i put in then. Im gonna jiat keep adding till it hits the upper cold line

Now shes moving :) i was looking for pressure info and i came across an article about priming the torque convertor before install....i did not. I guess it just needed another gallon to finally push into the TC

Alot of people do jot prefill the torque converters but I always do as its less of a guessing game when filling up the trans.

Ok now that i know im good on fluid i went for a test drive. It wont go into second gear. 25mph and its still in first. Im a little weary to go any faster. On tunerPRO is there a way to see if the pcm is giving the command to shift?

There should be, because it's commanding 1st or else it'd be stuck in 3rd. Try to redline it in 1st, it should grab 3rd and go if the band won't engage 2nd.
