I wqs looking to get some hints and tricks. I have the service manual, but its not very good in telling how to make the job easier or how to do it when you dont have a shop full of GM tools


The only specialty tools that you are going to need are a transmission jack and a clutch alignment tool.

What about alignment pins for the bell housing?
I dont have a transmission jack

The alignment pins are already in the block. I suggest that you rent,borrow or buy a transmission jack because it is very difficult to do this job with out one.
