I got a k1500 and was a v8, thinking of going to 4.3 with it since I have one that is running LOL.

Anybody did this swap or I guess went from v6 to v8?

I've got an s10 for a donor truck.

I was going to post a wanted ad but I'm a newb lol. I seen online these older ones had plates that mounted to the frame to move the mounts way back for a 4.3 and I don't have those. I guess I need them? Anyone have some? I thought of using flat steel, and bolting it in place of my old mounts?

IIRC you need different motor mounts and the computer but may be wrong on that... You'll not find much support on here for a 4.3 swap. I'm one of the few members on here that likes the V6

that's ok. and thanks for any help anyone does have. I figured somebody might have pulled a 4.3 in favor of a v8 and had the parts or info I need.

I have a donor truck it's an s10 though, I think 91. it's got tbi and computer and runs good. I know it's a backwards swap, but I just want to get it back going, the s10 needs too much to get it on the road. The motor is good but the 4wd fullsize everything is good but the motor, and it's trashed completely.

Yeah that's a good point, but keep in mind your resale value will go down. I have never seen an auto 4.3 in these trucks, Will the 4.3 bolt up to the torq converter and tranny? and will it have enough power for an auto?

You could probably find a v8 locally for $500 if you look around, direct swap would be easier and you know it'll work.

I'm on my second automatic 4.3  The torque convertor is a different stall speed now that I'm thinking about it...
