Creeping up on significant investment in a POS that still doesn't run reliably or have working A/C! And I've done basically all of the work on it myself except for the transmission.

Why do we do this to ourselves? LOL

Richard
I've had the exact same thought about mine. Which is part of the reason I'm iffy about putting anymore into it.

Did fine for most of the trip but the last several miles it had what felt like a misfire, hard to say, maybe ignition or fuel pressure momentarily dropping out. I persuaded it to make it to the transmission shop and once there the idle was surging badly. I hated to leave it with them in that condition but they said when they went to test-drive it after the rebuild it behaved mostly normal, but as it sat idling in their driveway it began surging again.

Normally, you're the one to suggest this, but could this be a temp sensor issue? Or maybe you've already done that?

It got a new CTS almost immediately after I bought it, because it was confirmed bad. The combination of extreme idle surging and cutting out seems more likely to me as possibly fuel pump going out (my '94 did the same thing right before it croaked), IAC bad, or some kind of vacuum leak it can't compensate for. It will idle way too high, then drop down.

When I've experienced bad CTS's that were -really- bad, the engine would idle high cold and then just keep idling lower and lower until it fuel-fouled the plugs and would stall.

yeah but those Commercial T/A’s sure do look nice!

Just noticed the top kick door handles :)
Yep; I've had that pair sitting around for 12 years since I replaced the ones on my gray '95 3500HD project. It got new GM handles and a set of freshly polished Alcoas that I shoulda kept..

If only the 16" Alcoas looked this good. I like them but there's something about 19.5's that really get me going. :Big Laugh:
