JET does have "updates" to the software available on-line here: https://jetchip.com/software-updates/ An oddity I've noticed is, as of this writing, the "updates" (above link) aren't as current as the latest shipping version of the GUI that's included in the "kit". @df2x4, check me on this.

Interestingly that does seem to be the case. My installation of the tuning software is showing version 2.32, while the latest update available on the JET website is 2.23.

Would you mind emailing me the latest version?
I'd like to check it out.
Want to see how many tables are different compared to EFI Live and HPT

Sure, PM me your email.

Do you want the tuning software installer for part number 14005 or 14007? They included both on my flash drive. They're around 50MB each so I'll have to compress them and split them into multiple emails. Let me know if you prefer RAR or ZIP format.

I've looked at both installers (14005 and 14007) in early 2022 and it appeared they're identical. Check me on this @df2x4, but IIRC both installers are exactly the same size and have the same MD5 hash value, i.e.,

Calculate their MD5 on a file using Windows:

d:\>certutil -hashfile <filename> MD5

@df2x4, I can open an FTP server up for you, you can push them to me, and I can then make them accessible on my website to give others easy access... ?

You're correct, I just checked and they are the same file.

Sure, that'll work. Just let me know where to send the installer.

The DST Tuner GUI installer is available here:

www.lightsbyarteb.com/TunerGUI.zip

Within the .zip file you'll find the .exe of the installer for Windows.

Installation instructions are below. AFAIK the instructions are valid for Win7-Win11, although they only mention Win10. Basically…

Find the ‘Run this program in compatibility mode for:’ check box. Click on the down arrow to the right of the compatibility mode box and select ‘Windows XP (Service Pack 3)’ from the list. Then check the ‘Run this program as an administrator’ check box.

The above instructions have been the standard for the DST installer since WinXP. I bet this version of DST will run on XP.

I found another VATS related option in the tune for my dad's '06 3500, which I believe might actually be the one to look for to disable VATS entirely.

If you go to Constants>System Parameters and scroll down about halfway, you'll see a slider labeled "VATS (0=Serial, 1=PWM, 2=None)." In my case it's set to 0 (Serial) by default. I looked this one up in the "Calibration Parameter Help" directory, which is proving to be very handy. Here's what it says about this parameter:

"This constant specifies what type of Vehicle Anti-Theft System is installed.

0 - Serial VATS
1 - Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) VATS
2 - No VATS

This constant should be set to 2 to disable the VATS."

Where as the option I found previously (Switches>Calibration Options>VATS Fail-Enabled Option check box) has this very limited description in "Calibration Parameter Help":

"This switch enables/disables the theft fail-enabled mode."

Seems to me that the fail-enabled check box is probably intended as a quick troubleshooting tool that will enable the vehicle to start even if the VATS signal is not what it should be, and the VATS slider in Constants>System Parameters is what you want to use to disable the VATS permanently. I could be wrong, but that's the impression I'm getting. At least for this vehicle.

Just an FYI, disabling the MIL for a fault doesn't disable anything else about that fault or the sensor in question. You would also need to disable the processing enabler, or whatever Jet calls that. Sometimes disabling processing enablers can shoot you in the foot though, gotta be smart about it. It works for rear O2 sensors, but try it on the MAF and the truck won't run. Truck needs to see the MAF fail and be allowed to do its thing to switch over to VE only.

I'd like to see some screenshots of the GUI myself. Does it have TCC unlock parameters for a 4L80?

There are a whole bunch of TCC lock/unlock parameters available in this '06 3500 tune, it's an LQ4/4L80E.

The GUI is very Windows 95ish. I don't mind it so far but this is the only tuning software I've ever messed with. 1998_K1500_Sub posted a screenshot on page four of this thread, Post #31.

I found a few more on GIS from this thread on LS1Tech that show some different menus and tables.

Can you post a screenshot of the 4th TCC unlock table? Oh, and another thing with that 06, I find that year range to be VERY finicky when trying to read and flash. Sometimes I have to give up, go around the block, and try again. Usually can't do more than one thing without that trip around the block. Make sure doors are closed, stereo off, HVAC off, nothing alive and thinking when trying to communicate with the PCM. Too much traffic on the bus and you may get a bogus flash. If that happens, just flash again. You'll know you got a bogus flash when the dash isn't working right, weird alarms are going off, etc.
