Painted the 411 on Friday and put it back together today. Glad I did, there was a touch of aluminum oxidation on the inside is the case.

I really hate, with a passion the cheap silver paint that remanufactures use on parts.

A dab of dielectric grease in the o-ring and it’s good to go.

The paint looks like there’s trash in it. That’s because there’s trash in it. :Boo:

Confirmed my suspicions of the leaf retainers hitting the bottom of the bed under compression. I’ll add notching the brace and buy shock extenders to my list of things to do. 8 15” wheels with 31’s mounted in the back had her doing the squatty potty thing.

New mirrors for Christmas. Dorman, power, nice rubber gasket and they don’t rattle!

Your '97 is a real early production truck! My crew cab was built on September 27,'96 and I thought that was early....
And it's 3 years almost to the day, older than my Burb. The Burb was built August 30, 1999.

I hadn’t noticed before, 8/29/96 is really early!

Speaking of mirrors, I need a pair of sail panels (the triangles at the top of the door panel) if any body has any…

Thanks to this thread https://www.gmt400.com/threads/replacement-hvac-flappers-doors.59731/
I was able to verify the part numbers I needed for my hvac rebuild. I ordered the upper box with the doors pre-installed and the third door. Also ordered a plastic hot stapler to fix a few cracks in my dash while I have it out along with some rubber foam gasket material. I’ll order the actuators, heater core and evaporator in a week or so.

I need to be doing this soon. No ac and the lower hvac box need replaced.

I thought about doing it myself but my local mechanic said he would pull the dash and do everything for $500 labor.
