Belltech makes good shocks I have them on my 2010.
Djm shocks are ok, I’m running them on the burban. There is better.
I usually run blue monroe shocks, i like them the best. I measure for the shocks and looks up the length I need. Most of the time shocks from a c3 corvette are the perfect length

Good to know. Maybe I’ll end up going with those. I wanted to get something that I could easily source at a parts store just in case something were to happen. Then I’d be able to walk in and grab something.

Hello, I made a post recently and I want to install a 4/6 lowering kit on my truck. Last owner paid someone and they did a **** job and didn't notch the frame. I've got some things I want to clarify. My last post has pictures of the hack job if you are curious.

I noticed belltech is highly recommended and I was gonna go with their $1200 all in one 4/6 drop kit. HOWEVER, I noticed that alot of people say that belltech has a fit issue with their notch and that there is a big gap at the bottom. I cannot weld so I want to get whatever kit has the best fit. I want to do things right the first time and never think about it again.

Does belltech have this issue? Or all Bolt in notches? What brands sell a better all in one kit? Thank you so much for the help and have a great day.

A notch is only gonna fit as good as the cut allows it to. How are you going to cut the frame?

Here's a closer look at the cut down monster notch on my truck. We cut about 4" off the top and plated it. Way more than you'll need, but you get the point. Truck is laid out in this picture, the frame is about 1/2" off the ground.

I would love some suggestions but I was planning on using an angle grinder and cutoff wheel. I still need to watch some videos.

I've also heard that people recommend welding supports while the cut is being made. Are there alternatives to this?

Wow that is a monster notch. That looks much nicer than the bolt in kits, I wish I knew more shops in the area that did this kind of work but I like working on my truck and it sounds kinda fun

Taking the bed off gives you more access, but it requires more work.
A sawzall will be easier than cutoff wheels, but you can use a combination of both.

You shouldn't need to weld supports, you're not going to cut all the way through the frame. Just make sure it's well supported so it can't flex.

My truck is home made, was bagged when I bought it but we've changed a lot. Here's the build thread:

You think putting jack stands in front of the notch and behind the notch before cutting would be enough support? Or would I need something to connect both side as well? so 4 jack stands total
