I can only assume that it's money. The majority of people in my state are living either paycheck to paycheck, drug deal to drug deal, or trick to trick. Good credit isn't high on the list of things to accomplish when you can barely count to potato. So the insurance industry is probably giving Mitch McConnell ridiculous money somehow to allow it to happen.
I have horrible credit due to divorce and medical bills along with student loans. Now I have been involved in an accident, so I'm going to be paying 30%-40% more for insurance I'm sure.

...didn't I say "Don't get me started on insurance"? Lol! It's absolutely ridiculous

Where I'm at in TX, id say a solid 40% of people don't carry insurance. @HotWheelsBurban has it way worse than I do over in Houston with crappy drivers but over here in San Antonio most people are like refrigerators, once the door closes, the light bulb goes off.

That sounds insane. What is their reasoning behind credit score affecting insurance?
I like the line about refrigerators! Have to borrow that one!
Mom and I work for a company that does merchandising in grocery and big box stores, and there's a lot of people in them that don't care at all cause they don't and still get paid. And I worked for Walmart for almost 5 years, 3rd shift stocking groceries and cold case ( dairy/frozen/deli). It was a character building experience......

Got finished up painting most of the interior trim pieces. Turned out alright, sure makes the truck not feel like a dirty work truck anymore at least. With Texas summer rapidly approaching we'll see how it stands up. Used the Duplicolor Adhesion Promoter along with cleaning the ever living crap out of em. Checked on my test patch on my center console with absolutely zero prep and it seems to hold up alright as long as im not intentionally scratching it. But if doing a full interior color change, I think id go with that SEM stuff, this was just a refresh so if it gets scratched, there's just more gray under it.

Back half of the cab has been repainted, door panels and forward have not (that's tomorrows project, maybe...)

Here is an after picture of the carpet after some vigorous shampooing, most of the stain from what I assume coffee is gone, but there's a huge burnt section where the inside of the passenger seat bolts in so new carpet is on the list.

Hopefully I can talk the wife into letting me spend some of this next stimulus check on the truck so I can get new carpet and the brakes fixed so its at least drive-able.

Coming along well! At least you're getting to do stuff to fix your truck up. All I can do right now is use it to go to work.....
It'll get cleaned out in a couple days to load up for the swap meet. Gotta fix the ABS sensors on the front end and replace the upper control arms ( bushings are shot). So the dashboard light will be off and it will pass inspection by middle of next month. Come on stimulus money!

That's the bigger reason I registered it in MN, was not having to deal with these inspections anymore. After my last endeavor into getting my E36 BMW to pass inspection, which was getting failed because "the power steering is too stiff". Finally found someone that would pass it that way. I just really didn't want to deal with it with this truck. Its loud, it makes noises, and runs kinda rough so I'm sure the inspectors who are used to new stuff will just insta-fail it.

I have a guy in my hometown who I use for inspections. He's done all of our vehicles, and is used to dealing with older stuff.

Finally got the interior finished up today. The dash is pretty much FUBAR, found more cracks than I realized I had. So hopefully one of my family members can get me one from up there as cracked dashes don't seem to be a problem on the northern trucks.

The interior isn't perfect but it really helped take away the "Used and abused work truck" feel. Don't mind the couple missing pieces, The handle trim basically disintegrated when taking them off and the clip for my climate control broke as well.

I also managed to get all three of our vehicles parked right next to each other for once!

Tomorrows project will be the new spark plugs, fuel filter and trying to see if I can see the camshaft advance on my scanner app to see if thats my misfiring issue around 900-2k rpm

Massive shout-out to @Supercharged111 got my scanner to finally be able to see the CMPRET and sure enough was at -8 degrees. Fiddled around and got it to about 0.1 at 1000 RPM (as close as I could get it) and it drives so much better. Still slow as hell but if it was meant to be fast it wouldn't be shaped like a brick. Huge thanks for pointing me in that direction!

Edit: I also just noticed that when I took my gauge cluster apart to clean it, I somehow inadvertently fixed my trip meter too

Threads been super dead while I was saving up for a full suspension and brake rebuild. Mostly taking care of small stuff in the mean time, but someone decided that they needed this truck more than I did. It got stolen Saturday morning and is more than likely in Mexico by now. So instead of brake and suspension rebuild, I'll be saving up to get another GMT400 since the prices of these trucks have gone up considerably since I bought mine.
