So, you want to re-engineer the rear axle, brake drums, front bearings, rotors... for what? Just to run a 5 lug wheel?

Why not leave the brakes and axles alone and run what is stock. That way replacement parts are available at your local parts store, not custom made by an expensive machine shop.

If it's "super special 5 lug unicorn" wheels you want, just buy 6 to 5 lug adapters

yes a want super special 5 lug unicorn rims, but a spacer is 2" to wide for them. So thats why im going to drill a 5 bolt pattern insteed. If there isnt a easier way to get it 5 bolt.

There's more to consider here. Register diameters on the hubs and axles if it's even do-able with the rims in question or machining the wheel centers. If this is going to involve a machine shop the costs are going to add up fast. Wheel studs are either threaded or swedged in and all this machine works needs to remain concentric with the axle centerline so it's not really something you can fixture up and machine in the driveway.

Sometime wheels that are cheap or free is the long way to go and ends up being the more problematic and costly way to get there.

Besides mangling up the stock stuff to the point neither set of wheels will go on what could go wrong? lol

My truck is 5x5, and I have a set of 1996ish Corvette Grand Sport wheels that would look awesome on my truck. I finally gave up on converting to 5x4.75. If I ever mount the wheels, it will be on adapters.

If you want lightweight muscle-car style rims you're pretty much screwed. If you want big, heavy, black "rock crusher" fake beadlock style rims, there's a gazillion out there.

I would think on the back part, you could run a 2x4 rear end with the adapters and be okay, since the 2x4 rear end is narrower. I have no idea how to go about the front. Or, I guess you could run the 2x4 rear end with spacers, since you can get it in 5 lug anyway.

How'd you go about it? I was going to suggest 2wd axle out back with adapter spacers.

Custom axles can be made. Ask a local machine shop about the re-drilling option for the axles and hubs. The holes in the drums don't need to be perfect but just let the stud through. That being said make them as perfect as you can. If you redrill the front hubs please use new ones.
