This has been discussed a lot but still don't have a definitive answer. I have an 89 GMC RCSB 1500 that I am restoring as close to original as I can. I can find the rolls of 3M stuff all day but I am looking for the "GMC 1500" badge that fits onto the molding. LMC has the bowtie with 1500. Does anyone know a source for the GMC one?

Looks like LMC has the bougie ones too. Is this what you're looking for?

Well well, They do after all. I must have typed the wrong search term or something. Thanks. Pricey though but hey... Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Now for the molding price comparison search. Guess I'll have to whittle out a flat spot to mount the emblems to the ribbed molding too.

Mine's a 98. That being said, on mine the emblem itself has grooves cut into it to fit around the molding. So unless the earlier emblems are different, all you'd have to do it cut the mounting tabs off the emblem and glue it on. Or you could drill holes in the molding to mount the emblem.

I'm betting the 89 was the same. I need to find out. Maybe someone has an original 89 on the forum that can verify the design and I may just get a roll of it off Amazon or on Ebay find a kit or something. Hopfully the cross section profiles would match. LMC shows not stocking the chrome/black kind for the RCSB.

I used the roll type on mine after I bedlinered the rocker panels. No regrets. Genuine 3m tape on the back and had no problem sticking to even bedliner. Plus you can pull the trim all the way to the wheel wells if you want. Never actually checked to see if the molding has exactly the same dimensions. But it looked identical.

I got mine from amazon, cheaper than LMC and still looks like new 2 years later. I don't keep mine in a garage. If I remember correctly, 2 rolls was enough to do my ECSB.

So, you don't know if the GMC 1500 emblem fits down into the grooves on the molding? I see you didn't use the emblems. You did a great job. Truck looks great.

I know it fits into the factory grooves. And I know I couldn't tell a difference in the aftermarket molding from the factory. But I never put the emblems on to check. I would bet that it would fit fine.
