I use Mobil 1 5w30 without any problems at 160,000 on the factory engine. Factory oil pressure gauges are not accurate.

How high ppm does it have in zinc and phosphorus? FWIU if you get too high of a concentration, it'll plug your cat.

Well, I was fully preparing for a rebuild with almost 300k on it (i.e. LS swap) but with the oil switch I actually think this motor might be staying for awhile. I figure I'm on borrowed time on all these components at this point. If I can get another few years out of this motor and cat, I'd call it a win.

I also own a turbo Subaru. A lot of the gas turbo guys swear by Rotella. I've never heard of any issues with plugging up cats. Granted that's much different than a SBC but the ej25 turbo's are more particular about literally everything compared at a SBC. I'm willing to roll the dice and so far it's given the real world, day to day results I was looking for.

I run 20w50 in my '95 Suburban with a 350 TBI.

It has a lot of blow by, but that is to be expected for a truck with over 330k on it.

It idles around 25psi and goes up to 50 when driving.

Here in MN, my last brand new truck was a 2013 F150. Going into its 3rd winter, the seams at the bottom of the doors were bubbling up. Making big payments on a truck that was already rusting - NEVER again!

Winter wins up here.

The rotten assholes put Magnesium Chloride on some of the dirt roads around here which is even more damaging. I have a pit at home. I walk around under my vehicles while I'm changing oil and blast areas with Liquid Wrench.

Sounds like the **** they started using here. I thought it was something chloride. They also put down some **** to keep the dust down on the dirt roads. It's absolute murder on metal. Thankfully my junk is rot free, but I do have to keep a wire brush handy to make sure it stays that way.

If only the DOT would use spread something else on the roads other than the chloride ****. Definitely can't wait until winter is over, sadly it has just begun. :bawl:
