I posted this in the engine performance but didnt get any responses so maybe this is the more Appropriate sub section .. I have a 383 stroker with Holley EFI paired w a LT4 hot cam. My trans is a 4l60E and i have 373 gears. My truck is sort of a dog going from 1st to 2nd gear but pulls hard once it gets past that. What stall do yall Recommend? The truck currently has a stock stall in it

I have the “stock corvette converter” according to my trans guy and a zz4 cam and BB tune. It runs right up to 2200-2300 which is where the cam comes on. It’s very drivable and I am happy.

Gas mileage sucks and I don’t care...

I was wrong. I drove the truck today... its actually "sluggish" i use that term loosely when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. Will the Corvette stall fix that? Will it go into a 4l60e? According to my cam card its RPM range is1500 to 5500

With that cam you may want a little higher stall converter. If you do a power stand what RPM does your engine get up to? My OE converter only go up to 900, after I blew it I ordered a 2300 - 2500 stall converter (my cam is rated about the same RPMs) along with a 600HP stage 2 700r4. Be careful if you go with a cheap converter, you'll feel it slip and then lock up on partial throttle - kind of disconcerting. I also went from 3.42 to 4.11 gears, cut my times by 0.3 seconds, I was hoping for more from the gears.

To be honest i really dont know. When I had my old 350 i cant recall what the RPMs were when I tested it to see if I had a POSI rearend:smoke2:.

I havent done it w this motor. This motor only has 400 miles on her. IM still breaking her in. Well makin sure my rings are nice and seated.

Yea im not gona skimp out on the SC. I want what's best for the truck

Yes the Vette converter goes into the 4l60e. and you shouldn't need that much stall to get it moving in 3rd. There may be something else going on.

With that small of a cam and with fuel injection there shouldn't be a need for a higher stall. Are your tires 38" or taller, do you have enough advance in the timing, and was the cam degreed-in ??
Their listed range for the cam is likely estimated for a 350ci engine and would be 400 - 500 rpm lower in a 383.

The motor was professionally built, installed and tuned so im guessing everything was done right. How it feels is really hard to describe. A higher stall was recommended but I was talked out of it for now because i either want to have that one beefed or a 4L80e installed

This would be the smart choice.
I read the sticky about the 60e to an 80e but the links are gone. Whats required to go from a 60E to an 80E? The truck is a 94 1500. Even though the truck is being fueled by a holley sniper the stock computer is controlling the trans.
