If you do change the ICM buy an AC Delco and use the thermal compound that comes with it, based on all that I've read on this. I ordered some Arctic MX-4 for mine, hopefully this will cure my surging too.

Is there a generally acceptable "upgrade" or something that might help to reduce the likelihood of this problem reoccurring ?

Ignition control modules take a lot of abuse in normal operation. Stick with AC Delco, United Motor products, Delphi or Standard.

Oh wow. I was not seeing anywhere near anything that dramatic. More like a 500rpm blip.

What do you use to get your data? I have not messed around with obd1 in over a decade...

Not really you'll feel a surge or jerk. What it does is create an electrical impulse that the ECM sees as high RPM so it loads more fuel momentarily. I also got code 45 - O2 running rich sometimes.

What do you use to get your data? I have not messed around with obd1 in over a decade...
