What happened?

I have some idea's, I had some vibrations in the transfer case. While inspecting the drive train, noticed a bb sized dent from the INSIDE on the rear end cover. Pulled/drained, and found a broken tooth part from the pinion, and two adjacent teeth chipped.

What could have caused this? Again, I also have abnormal knocking/grinding from the transfer case, opening that tomorrow. Slip joint bearing probably needs replacing and suspect mode fork damage too.

the noise you are hearing in the t-case could be from the gears in the rear end. the noise might be following the drive shaft into t-case

Also do you have the G80 locker in the rear end?
