upgrade for 4l80e maybe?

I occasionally drive th400 truck with 37's and 4.10 gears. It has a worn out 305. Does just fine if not in a hurry. When offroad, use low range. For more harder off road it needs higher gears

thanks I have a 454 tbi 4l80e should be close I would think the truck is a back-up tow-pig and offroad toy that with some regular driving from time to time what should I expect

I like the 4L80's tight gear spread, it doesn't get kicked in the nuts every time it upshifts. Yes first is a bit taller than the 60's, just add 100# of torque or more, that'll solve your problems.

as far as I know I do not have problem in torque department. all I can ask of it is for the truck to get out of its own way if need and to be able to some times go on the highway at speed without the rpms being crazy I have a feeling that 456 488 513 or what ever they make that fit both 14 bolt and 9.25ifs would most likely be an improvement but calculating for tire size gear ratio and rpm is above my pay-grade

I have a 4L80, 4.10, and metric 33s. If I so much as went to a 35 I'd be regearing.

Math it out the way you did in the other post. Do it for 4.56 and 4.88 and see if you find something you like.

okay will math it again was asking because I do not understand all of the numbers some of the chart I get and parts of it go way over my head
