I know that the value of a truck is whatever someone is willing to pay, but I wanted to get some opinions on the value of my truck. Doing a slow restore, so just curious of other’s opinions.

Truck is in good condition; about to put wheels and tires; Original restore paint job is potentially in the future.

Thanks in advance!

It's difficult to put a value on it, especially not knowing a lot of additional information...

It looks in good condition! What year is it? 88-89? I'd say about $5000 based on what I see trucks going for around here. Just my guess. Maybe higher with the current goofy stuff going around...

What's the history on it?
Things like low mileage, being original owner, knowing history, having document paperwork usually drive value up.

I hope this helps.

Thanks! It was in someone's garage for the last 20 years not being driven, so I am slowly getting it back. It's an 88; PO seemed to take good care of it; 99k orig miles; I have pretty much done all of the major stuff to get it safe and road ready; now it's just doing the small things here and there to fix it up(unfortunately the small things are what add up the quickest!)

I see you are in Dallas, TX so maybe not a lot of road salt to cause rust to the underside and panels. If that's the case and with only 99K miles and if it was one owner, I'd say it may be worth a little more than 5K. Maybe somewhere in the 7-8K range in today's market. That's a collector market value I'd say. Some may dispute that assessment but if you've kept up with the market, gmt400s have increased in value in the last couple of years. Your truck is a great start to a full restoration. Anyone would love to have it. Great find!

Thanks! I had to pull the bed to change fuel tank and fuel pump, and frame had no rust. I painted it for good measure, but luckily all is rust free.

You already answered your own question, but it looks clean, and has fairly low mileage, so I'd say the higher end of what similar trucks are going for where you live, 7k +/- seems reasonable. It does have collector/restoration appeal, and these trucks are becoming popular, but it's a long bed and that hurts it.

There's two ways you could go from here. An original resto or full on custom. Personally, I prefer the stock resto especially with the great platform you are starting with. You can customize any truck regardless of the shape it's in (new engine, panels, interior, etc.), but you only get few chances to start with a low mileage, rust free truck to restore. Good luck!

I used to worry about parts upgrade affecting the value of my truck. Then i realized its MY truck and I will fix it up only for my enjoyment and not worry about what it might do to resale value.

I found & bought a 99% perfect 2005 Yukon XL SLT 4 years ago. ( It has been 'perfect' since then)...... It was very difficult, but I put my '88 GMC C2500 ' Camper Package' , for sale.
I bought it with 8,000 miles on it in 1990 as I lived in Southern California.
I kept it running good.... engine area very clean.... underneath very clean..... at 220,000 miles I replaced the engine with a 4-bolt main 350...... I had 392,000 miles on it when it went to sale.
I had just replaced steering / suspension with Moog. The interior was pretty good, ( perfect dashboard, due to a dash cover from 1990)... but redid the bench seat like factory. ... I had & kept all paperwork, including the 'real' 3- set repair manuals.
I got contacted by an exporter in Florida looking for trucks as yours ( I live in Fl) and he bought the truck for $4,000. ( 4 years ago) To a collector in Germany.

DO NOT REPAINT IT !!!!! Unless it is done like factory........ The 'patina' kept the value!!

if you wish, the exporter pays top dollar for a truck like yours...( They LOVE them in Germany)
I can give you his #..... If you wish.....
.......What was cool, is the new German owner sent me a video driving the truck from the import shop in Germany. ( It was very cold outside ...exhaust steam )
