Trans temp sensor

What sensor is used for transmission temp when checking with a scan tool? The one on mine seems to be accurate.

''Datamaster'' can also read the trans temp.Even though it's not common knowledge a 4L80E(not sure about a 4L60E)has a sensor in it that will read the temp.I've used my laptop connected to the diagnostic port to monitor what the engine & trans are doing.As far as I know there aren't any kits to access the wire that goes to that sensor,I wouldn't want to mess with that wire anyway.
