How seriously should stated (on the tyre) 'maximum inflation pressure' be taken?
I have the correct load rated tyres and door jamb sticker says Fr 50psi, R 80psi (for LT245/75-16) but my 265/65-17 tyres have a max pressure rating of 44psi.

Max inflation is for max weight rating. I never run 80 in my load range E tires on my 1500. 45 daily, 55 out back for towing. The dually gets 75 a tire for its much more substantial load.

GM isn't going to tell you to run a higher pressure than the tire manufacturer specifies for the tire. You don't have a tire with the same load rating as what GM originally installed.

Does that mean at lower loading they can be run at higher pressure?
My tyres are rated at 2469 lbs. Multiply that by 4 and it comes to 9876 lbs. If my GVW is 8660 lbs, can I run the tyres at 9876/8660 x 44 = 50 psi?
