looks like somethings dripping out of the tailpiece also, there was fluid there on the crossmember

topped off fluid, it acts the same way in 3rd gear didnt try 1st or second

runs all the way up to twenty in first, i have to let off the gas, then it shifts, probably to third

The leaking is do to a worn or bad seal in the tail section of the tranny.
It sounds like the typical 4L60E Valve Body Issues.
When was the last fluid / filter change ?

2nd gear normally goes 1st and others will follow.
You'll soon be putting it in limp mode to get her to move.

I do know that if your tranny hasn't been flushed/serviced regularly I wouldn't advise doing it now. I looked into doing mine a while back and a local trans. shop that is well known for their work advised me it would lead to tranny failure if it hadn't been done on a regular basis, every 15,000 miles or so. I had no records of the previous owner doing this so I choose not to start doing it.

Wise choice Tatoo !!!!

I personally think flushing a tranny with no service history is like taking a leak in the wind.
My 4L60 had a very hard shift going into 2nd and would chirp the rear wheels. I installed a new TCS (near the thermostat housing) and that firmed up my 2nd gear shifts.
Funny thing is when I asked a few tranny shops about the issue the 1st 2 things they claimed I needed was a flush or a rebuild.

yeah the flush to finish it off or the rebuiild in case they could help

so im looking at a replacment or rebuild?

i was looking at it this afternoon and i got this truck last summer

it looks to me like the previous owner sealed the pan with some red rtv or other goop

there is probably a piece of that in one of my wormholes blocking fluid

186 on the truck time for trans work anyways

anyone heard of monster transmissions?

looking for any other options or info also

thanks

You may have a mechanical problem but this is exactly what happens if the computer isn't getting the speed sensor reading. Double check that your connection there is good.

he checked my obds with a gm diagnostic for me and it said trans overheated

would it show up that the computer wasnt getting a speed reading?

aside from that, do you mean the speed sensor at the front wheel hubs or is it down by the safety switch or where am i going?

im only ignorant until i ask.. and you wont have to tell me twice
