I use case IH 15/40 in older gassers that might use a bit of oil. We get alot of life out of them that way.

I run mobil 1 synthetic in EVERYTHING else (expcept my 95 amsoil truck). First oil change on my current 03 6.0L had me worried w/ 2qt in 5K miles of M1, 2nd change only used 1qt in 10K, now the 3rd change is at 7500 and 1/4 qt low. That is the biggest change I have seen on a synthetic swap.

Interesting, I'll have to try another oil change and see if I lose as much as the first time, I'll remember that diesel oil trick too incase synthetic doesn't work for me

Its not bad oil, we ran the valvoline recycled oil in my cousins 2013 6.0 before the dealer could get it in for excessive oil usage, sucked over 1qt/500 miles. Wanted cheap oil but good quality for the bearings.

I ran john deere torque guard in my old dakota once because we didn't have anything else
