stupid swap questions

I have a 96 chevy Z71 with a 350 vortec and a 4l60. 4l60 is in questionable condition, and i want a 5 speed bad. Do i have to use 96-98 nv3500s? or can i use the older ones too? I know i can just run the neutral safety switch as the clutch switch, and i just have to move the wire for the reverse lights, and lmc sells a complete prefilled and bled hydraulic system. What else do i need for the swap? I also know i have to reflash the computer.

Next stupid question. When my vortec goes i want to swap in an ls1. Is there any possible way to mate an nv3500 to an ls1? If so how will an nv3500 hold up with an ls1?

A NV4500 would be able to handle more power better than a 3500 which may or may not. Idk if an ls1 will mate to it or not, but I'm sure there is some sort of conversion flywheel for it
