Got a bit of an issue here. I went out and bought a set of JL 650-cxi coaxial speakers for my doors. I did this cause I figured they would sound better then the 16 year old stock speakers. The JL's are noticeably less quiet and pump out less. I know they are wired in correctly but I'm stumped as to why they are so quiet. I have a Sony deck in the truck as well any help is great.

Cheers!

The new speakers aren't as efficient at low power as the stock ones. The new JL ones are designed for 50w continuous. The factory headunit puts out about 10w per channel. The sony deck might put out a little more than that (20 maybe?).

There are speakers that are designed to work better with lower watts, but I think your JL speakers will really shine with a small amplifier hooked up.

okay so this is everything that i have put in.

Head unit: Sony CDX-GT450U out power power 52Wx4

Door Speakers: JL Audio TR650-CXi: Continuous Power Handling 50w
: Recommended Amp Power: 10-75W per channel
: Nominal Impedance: 4ohm
: Frequency Response:59Hz-22KHz 3dB

Rear 4x6 Speakers: JBL GTO6427: Power Handling 40W RMS, 120w peak
: Impedance 2ohms
: Frequency response 75Hz-21kHz

After putting the Specs in a can see that i probably need an amp put in

After looking up specs on that head unit the 52W is peak, which means essentially nothing except marketing hype.

The RMS rating is only 17W....what I couldn't find is if that 17W is per channel or total.

So you're tickling the bottom of your speakers rated min, maybe under it if that 17W is split over 4 channels.

A little more "fire in the wire" will push those JL's a bit better!

:)
