Hey guys running into issues with my starter.
Sometimes when I go to start the truck the starter just spins. I then back the key off, wait about a second and then retry and the starter fully engages and fires up. Does this every other time I try to start my truck, but by turning the key off then retrying a second later it fires without fail.
Further details, the truck fires fine, it's like the starter just doesnt engage the first time.
My question: Do I need a new starter? Or could something else cause this?
Thanks for any help!
Alex

Sounds like the starter solenoid, it is not engaging the gear to the flywheel. that is a cheap fix.

I thought that could be it. Where's the solenoid at on these trucks?

No problem, as long as it is just not engaging everytime and not grinding or anything then I would say for sure the solenoid. CHeck all your wires too to make sure none are corroded or bad.
