This conversation has just reminded me that I wanted to locate an indoor 12v DC power supply to run my Klipsch home speakers off of some of my extra car amps, just for the hell of it. Kind of a reverse application of what was being talked about but hey, good amps is good amps! Now if only I could find a power supply that could give me 100 amps of current or so at 12v DC off of a dedicated 20 amp 120v AC circuit... I know they're out there.

These are the best option I've seen so far.

I have them in my truck with Rockford Fosgate T165s in them and love them. Good fit, not a bad install, and great placement. I use 4" plate speakers in the dash as well, Infinity Kappa 462.11CFPs.

Heres some pics, they're dirty!

I know it's only 45 amps, but it's dirt cheap.

Wow, that is dirt cheap. Thanks for the link! Might have to pick one up just because. It definitely wouldn't run any of my Lanzars at anything close to full output, but I'm sure I could get some of my smaller Denons up and running.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree with that. I've heard many systems with decent dash speaker setups that were great. Hell, CDT actually makes a secondary tweeter kit for some of their systems to do exactly what you said, reflect off of the windshield. While I'm not against the door speaker idea, I wouldn't just give up on the 4x6 holes in the dash. I never understood why people don't use all the speaker locations they can. The factory took the time to cut the hole, why not stick something in it?

I agree, my Cadillac has a Bose sound system engineered for the best possible in car sound and it has three tweeters in the dash (obviously in all four doors as well) but it makes for the best surround sound experience in a vehicle. I would sooner put speakers where they are supposed to be than screw around cutting new holes. My '93 has dash 4X6s and they sound fine.
