Scuff on tailgate, can it be removed?

Back sometime in December, my buddy tried to throw a traffic cone from his truck into mine at a red light, and it bounced off the tailgate and left two scuff marks from the heavy rubber base of the cone. I spit on the marks and rubbed my finger and got some off but there still pretty apparent. Just took these pics about 10 minutes ago. Is there any kind of specialized rubber scuff remover i could use? I tried Goof-Off spray (a "heavy duty degreaser" and adhesive remover), but it didn't seem to help. Pics below.

you could try an eraser wheel. Do people think you go to mercedes with that monster sticker?

use a fine polishing compound by hand

What kind of polishing compound? I have some headlight polishing compound laying around, but i doubt that would work, would it?

i wouldnt recomend it, if u go to any paint supply they should have some

No. You need something heavier than headlight compound. Try this or the next step up, which would be the rubbing compound. Judging by the pic, it doesn't look like it's through the clear at all, so you should be alright with this.

I like my decepticon logo better. I'm kinda wanting to take the Monster sticker off but my mom loves it. Meh.
