I know this has probably been asked before, but has anoyone found a front hanger for the rear leaf springs on a K1500? The drivers side one on my '91 K1500 is reallllly bad! I was looking at other dorman ones, and the F150 or Ranger ones look similar, but the bolt spacing is pretty far off. Anyone replaced one easily with an off the shelf part?

Let me know!

I bought one of these- fits a ford ranger- I will see if it is anywhere near good enough for my K1500, I know the bolt holes don't line up correctly, but maybe with a plate welded to the side to widen the bolt pattern it may work- For $30 it's worth a try. If it doesn't look like it will work, I will return it and try another. I will let you know what happens. Dorman #722-011

Is a ranger leaf spring as wide as a 400s?

here in Mass, most junkyard trucks are worse than mine.

The ranger spring is the same width, but the holes were far enough off that even if I welded plates to widen it and then bolt it on, it would have made my truck dogleg.

I cut the rivets off mine, cleaned it up, and welded angle iron on it to strengthen it. Should be fine. it was only weak by the top left rivet- area that holds the spring was fine.

I got the hanger back on. I had a few weak looking spots in the frame, so I plated under the forward bolts on the hanger and bolted it all back together. This is the result- pictures kinda make it look worse than it really is...

Now all the spots on the bed supports that were weak have been welded up, I have to replace the fuel pump cause the lines broke when i lifted the bed (were reallllly scabby!), and luckily my crossmember holding the tank is ok cause it was covered in factory coating. Its really barely rusty at all. I am fixing the 2 rusty bed rails with barn door track from tractor supply which is galvanized and really strong. Then I will paint the whole frame with black rustoleum after blowing all the loose rust that I chipped off away, and the bed will be back on. I am hoping to have the truck all back together by saturday so I can drive it next week.

My avalanche isn't running right now, so I am driving my dads S10 xtreme 4cyl and it's a nice looking truck, but no fun and no GMT400 :D
