What better way to start off than with a build thread!

This is my grandfathers 1990 RCLB, it’s been ram through the ringer but kept going for the old man. Unfortunately just before COVID hit we were forced to put him in a home due to medical reasons. What we thought was going to be a short stay has now turned into a more permanent residence, forcing the sale, and giving away of property to include “Ol Blue”.

Fast forward to this month….. after taking advantage of the market and selling our 2021 we bought back in November with 7 miles on it back to the dealership for exactly what we paid for it with now 7K on it, my mother in law said hey we were going to try and sell my dads truck, if you want you can drive it for a while. Here is how she sat the day I picked her up. She still had junk in it from hauling it from GPas House and back.

Good ol GPa…. Rigging lol. The tailgate was held up with bailing wire and the glove box was held up with shoe string.

before making it out of the driveway, I had to install a new battery. While pulling off, I noticed the super spongy brakes and knew they had to be replaced ASAP. That week after work I pulled it in the shop and what we found shocked us considering my father in law made 3 3.5 hour round trips in it.

the right rear had a blown axle seal and the shoes were barely holding on, not to mention the broken pieces that fell out.

I had a decision to make did I want to go cheap and just replace it to get it on the road or did I want to go ahead and swap a disc conversion on it. Well decided to go ahead and just replace it and do the conversion t a later date so we could get it back on the road. Of course we ran into some issues. Issue 1. Diff Fill Plug had previously been seized, instead of fixing it they rigged it (I’ll have to get a pic of it as I haven’t gotten around to fix it). 2. The brake lines kinked while trying to remove the wheel cylinder, didn’t have time to wait a week to 2 to get one in so I had a local shop build some hose for it. 3. Couldn’t get it to bleed no thanks to the front caliper bleed nipples being seized so it’s got the spongy feel but stops. So I’ll be swapping out front brakes along with doing a GMT800 BMC and getting rid of that ABS crap soon.

Ive also been ordering in other parts that I’ll be sharing as I install them, just need to make sure the brakes get taken care of first.

Thanks, I’ve always missed my 94 ECSB and wasn’t really looking for anything in particular, I just remembered how fun it was to drive and customize. Figured eh why not just fix her up along the way and make it a fun daily toy. Yes, she will be bagged, hence the DRGNAZZ. Got the Viair 444 in and trying to decide if I want to run Chad Criss or run SS or some other manifold setup. I’ve got time to figure all that out however as I’ve got other issues to fix like cancer, interior, and I have a feeling soon to be motor (definitely doing LS).

Finally got around to doing the front brakes…… and boy was I in for a surprise. Come to find out this thing has HD brakes on it, needless to say it was torn down and on the way back together before we noticed. Got the right parts, put it together and brakes better than ever. Oh and I upgraded the BMC.

now for the bad news, I’m scraping this project…. Too much going on, plus I went ahead and ordered the wife a 21 Widebody Charger. As quick as I say hello, it’s goodbye. I’m sure I’ll be back tho!
