I have a 98 Chevy 1500 W/T that I’ve replaced the rear drum brakes and the master cylinder. I’m having an issue where the parking brake light is on no matter what position the parking brake is in, but intermittently when I press the brake pedal the light will go off for a second. Will adjusting the parking brake cable fix this issue? Any advice is very much appreciated

THREE things turn the "BRAKE" light on:
1. Park brake pedal
2. Safety switch in the combo valve
3. ABS faults.

Download the service manual from the links in a thread on this site, follow the diagnostic procedure.
