I'm finally sick of my tahoes oil cooler lines leaking so Ive ordered some new ones from rock auto. Has anyone does theres before ? If so, how difficult was it and are there any things I need to be aware of before I get started ? Thanks fellow 400ers


edit: should I replace the connectors on the engine side as well ?

Sub'd! I've never changed them on a GMT400 before, but am going to need to replace all of them on my 94' as well in the very near future.

Funny how the the things that "shouldn't" be too hard, end up being the pain in the ass jobs :lol: But good luck, let us know how it goes! Just make sure that you use all the o-rings, it really shouldn't be to bad. In general they are a pretty simple in and out swap!

did them on my blazer wasn't too bad besides having to squeeze my arm between the steering/front end components to get at the bolt for the clip on the motor mount. Go right to GM for the fittings (quick connects) on the motor side they come with the new clip and O ring already in them and are fairly cheap, best way to make sure the quick connects won't be leaking right down the road.

Another option that I have heard of is to have hydraulic style lines made up with ends that hook directly into the oil filter housing and the radiator which will go forever without leaking know a few people that have taken that route.

Pretty easy and straight forward, time consuming, but not a bad job. I have never changer the ends on the engine side. I have taken my new hoses to a hose shop and had the ends that crimp on to the rubber hose crimped tighter they have seemed to lasted the longest

the engine ends are prone to failing, that weak clip has been known to blow out and that is the end of that motor


the 6.5 has a kit available from lubrication specialists to fix the cooler and lines for good but have not heard of any for the gassers

When reinstalling the lines that clip on the motor mount has to be real tight (not to the point it's crushing the lines) it's all that saved my Blazer from pumping itself dry. The moment I released that clip both lines literally fell out of the quick connects on the filter housing without so much as a tug on my part.
