It appears that I do not have a passenger airbag non/off switch in my 1997 Yukon. When where the switches installed, and is it possible to install one from a 1998?

^ I didn't know that, but it lines up with my experiences so I definitely believe it! My '97 C1500 long bed has one, while my '97 K1500 Suburban does not.

The reason for the switch is that an airbag would be harmful if you have a rear facing child seat, so you have to be able to disable it in a truck. Whereas you should be putting a rear facing child seat in the backseat if you have an SUV. I'm sure you could install one, but I would be very careful to install it correctly, check all wiring diagrams and triple check your work.
