Can a proper scan tool perform a cylinder-balance test?
If you hold ~1700 rpm, where it runs rough, what does the scan tool show for cylinder-by-cylinder misfire counts?
I was hopin it would but mine won't. Got the torq app unless there's a pid to program in. I did buy an infrared thermometer to check header temps. As I did have spark at both #5&6 so fuel was my next guess. Too bad it's 17° today and it doesn't fit in garage easily. I did check rockauto n individual mpfi injectors ain't too expensive if I remember correctly.
Just plugs into the large connector that plugs into spider than you crank it over to see if it lights up. Easier with someone to watch while one turns it over
I'll check into it when I head to class. Last time I did it on my 96 used a test light on the OEM spider to find out which one wasn't grounding since I think the poppets worked by grounding out? Like I said been few years n can't remember exactly.
Been 2 yrs fightin this problem off n on between back issues n nonstop long work hours. Really wantin my truck back haha. Plus if it's something simple I'll be at the point I can start doin my ridiculous add ons (train horns, air bags, lift etc.) Just don't wanna throw bunch of fun stuff on a lawn ornament.
