The Plug On the Truck Side that goes into the 3rd brake light. Cut the wire and ground the pigtail side on its own to the truck. Other end truck side, cap/seal it so it doesn't cause issues? which wire is it?
I know it's been over a year and I'm just now seeing this. I also went out to my truck and took pictures so you can see everything so hopefully it helps.

So that white wire that is capped off is the original ground for the cargo lamp and it goes into the A pin on the connector. The black wire right next to it is the ground for the 3rd brake light. What you need to do is cut the white wire going into A and cut the black wire going into B. You'll connect the ground wires together on the connector side and reconnect that to the single black wire on the truck side. Then cap off the now single white wire otherwise your dome lights will never turn off again. And as shown in the picture, the connector is labeled what pin is what letter, it goes to D. You only need to mess with A and B for this

Finally did this, and it works great. I tore my truck all apart trying to find a different way to do it - this method is definitely the easiest and most effective. I made a mess trying to get creative with it. :jester:

I used a butt splice and opted for liquid tape to seal it from corrosion, then standard electrical tape on top of that (overkill). Sealed the cut connection with liquid tape and taped it back to the harness instead of using a wire nut. Should be good for (virtually) ever and will be a nice luxury. Might save me from pulling over in bad weather just to recheck things because I can't see!

Thanks again for the information, happy truckin'! :driver:
