new member here, I was looking for my next project and had been shopping for a S10 truck. Had one before and they can be fun. However, I came across a 1988 Gmc shortbed truck with the 4.3 Vortec/5 Speed. My next build was going to stickshift so I have been looking for a manual box truck. Goal is to swap an LS (or a efi 350 block) either in the s10 or perhaps a GMC/Chevy 1500. So my question for you for the experts is, what trans is the 5 speed in the GMC? would it hold up to a modest built LS/350? If i do an S10 I would be swapping in a new transmission anyways, but if the GMC transmission would potentially work for a fun weekend street cruiser, that is something to consider in the cost of the build.
