Thanks all for the feedback. Went to my local lift shop this weekend and the guy told me the two best options are:

1. 2.5" front torsion keys + 1" lift via ubolts and blocks in the rear - total = $550

2. Maxtrack 5" suspension lift - total = $1200 installed

Any thoughts on this cat's opinion?

Run away from that shop and never look back. Option #1 should have been body lift.

I'm with RichLo. Anyone trying to sell you torsion keys for these trucks is trying to steal your money.

Agreed. I’ve also never heard of a maxtack lift.

Body lift is cheap option 1
Suspension lift is the not cheap option 2

It doesn't seem like Maxtrac even makes a GMT400 compatible lift. https://maxtracsuspension.com/ On their site the earliest year for a Chevy is a 1999 "silverado 1500" not a k1500.

I'll be steering clear of doing any business with the shop from this weekend.

If I decide to forgoe any lift at all, what's the largest tired I can put on these stock wheels w/ no lift and not run in to any rubbing issues?

Maxtrac is for 2wd trucks and uses spindles. I don’t think they even make lifts for GMT400 trucks. That shop is clueless.

265/75r16 for sure. 285/75r16 maybe with a slight crank and some trimming. 1 to 2 inches of crank is free and easy.

285/75/R16 fit fine on factory wheels with a 1.5" crank on my '97 K1500 Suburban.

By a 1.5" crank is that referring to adjusting the factory torsion keys / bar as mentioned earlier in the thread? This is something standard the tire shop can do when they do the alignment after installing new tires?
