I'm removing my oil cooler lines on my 1997 and I got the old style adaptor that allows me to put a oil filter straight up and down and I ran into the issue that the filter I tried (A Fram PH5 that I had on hand, but would run an ACDelco filter)was too long and bumped the front driveshaft. I bought two different oil filters, a ACDelco PF454 which I got for between a 5.7L 1993-1997 Camaro and a ACDelco PF1218 which we use on our Sutdebaker rat rod that has a 5.0L in it. My question is which one should I use?

GMT400 4x4's need the sideway oil filter adapter, or else the filter hits the driveshaft.

2wd used the straight down style.

With a short filter an a adapter without cooling line previsions it works fine. I did mine before the lift an it was tight but worked. There's plenty of room now though, I could probably run the 1218 size now if I wanted....
