How to tell difference between bad wheel hub and bad CV axle?

Well after some research and having been in the rear diff of this truck before, I don't think its the ring/pinion. The pitch of the sound doesnt change if I let off the gas or if I'm coasting etc. I think its going to be a rear axle bearing. The driveshafts are very, very tight so I don't think its a u-joint. Like absolutely zero play. Solid as rock. Kinda surprised me ha. I changed the fluid in the transfer case btw, no change.

I was going to say somewhere in the rear axle, maybe around the drum. That's what I thought when you said grinding noise.

It might not hurt to pattern the gears just to make sure.
