I would just find another vortec motor and drop it in and be done with it. Trying to go to TBI from a vortec would require extensive wiring work. Also you would be downgrading in terms of technology and power.

correct- not a very common swap at all. Kind of going backwards, 55 hp to be precise

will a 96 be right cause I heard they can be vortec or tbi
