I've had an oil leak since I bought my truck this summer. I've only put about 3,000 miles on it so far, and I don't want to wait much longer to get it taken care of. I haven't done a whole lot of motor work in the past, but I think I'm willing to tackle this. Other than a torque wrench I should have all the tools I need, including a Haynes manual. What kind of parts do I need to get it all done, and is there anything else I should take care of while everything is taken apart? I can see oil standing in the valleys of the intake and it runs down the back of the motor, and onto the exhaust manifold where it stinks like hell. Hopefully there is no other leaks, but I think this is a good place to start.

Gaskets?
RTV
Oil sending unit?
what else?

intake and valve cover gaskets are easy, might as well do valve covers while you are in there. get the gaskets, RTV, and a sixer. a hour or two and your done.

easy, your list is perfect too, your intake gasket kit will come with the gaskets the go across the front and back of the block, throw them out and put a nice THICK bead of RTV across, i usually double up just to be safe.

If no one has ever changed out the heater hose quick disconnect on the back of the intake, go ahead and swap it out for a simple screw in heater hose nipple, you need one for 3/4 in. hose. The original piece is junk and almost always fails, if you can go ahead and change it and save yourself some trouble, also you can cut the rubber hose right behind the factory crimp, and push it right on the new nipple, of course you will need a hose clamp.
