So basically any wire that is hot with the key in the run position would work just fine if the above mentioned wire could not be found.

Seems to be so.
Said output from PCM also feeds ignition (coil and other thing), crank and cam position sensors, EGR valve, MAF sensor, injectors (via a fuse), etc, etc. O2 sensor heating is just one more added to the list.

Haynes shows all the above being fed with pink coloured wires.
