Fuel tank size

Hey guys! Had to replace the fuel pump in my 92 K1500 and in the process broke a fuel tank strap. Went to the parts store and they show two different fuel tank sizes for my truck. A 25 gallon and 34 gallon. Since It's not properly secured in the truck I really don't want to fill the tank. Any other way to find this information out?

Is your truck a long box, or short?
Not sure, but shouldn't that info be on the glove box build sheet?

I'd be willing to bet yours is the 25 gallon tank. The 34 is probably for the K2500, or K3500 trucks.

Looking up a fuel tank for a '92 K1500 it shows 25 gallon.

The 1992 K1500 truck is a four-wheel-drive, 1/2-ton pickup truck. The "K" name indicated four-wheel-drive models until 1999, when Chevy dropped the "K" and gave the name "Silverado" to all its trucks.

Drivetrain

The 1992 Chevy K1500 only had one engine option: a 4.3-liter V-6. This engine produced 160 horsepower and 235 foot-lbs. of torque. The K1500 came standard with a five-speed manual transmission and had an optional four-speed automatic transmission.

Fuel

The 1992 K1500 got 17 miles per gallon (mpg) in the city and 22 to 23 mpg on the highway, depending on the transmission type. All 8-foot-bed K1500s had a 34-gallon fuel tank, while the 6.5-foot-bed K1500s had a 25-gallon fuel tank.

Yeah, I'm going to check the RPO codes. Rewind if you look at the next gas tank down it show's the 34 gallon fitting the same truck.

the truck is a 8' bed standard cab.

Also, the information above is incorrect. it was available with the 4.3, 5.0,& 5.7.

GMCTRUCKS, could you do me a favor... could you get a tape measure and measure your tanks length and width?
