Can the fuel tank on the 98 Chevy/GMC 1500, regular cab, short bed fit to the 95-97 models? Are the 99-08 tanks the same as the 98's? Anybody know?:hmm:

I don't see why it wouldn't physically fit since the frames are the same. I am unaware if their is or isn't a difference in the fuel pump though.

The 95-96 fuel pump assembly is different than the 98. I'm not 100% sure about the 97 assembly.

The reason I'm asking about the pumps is that I want to do an LM7 swap into a 95-98 1500 truck. I love the body style, regular cab, short bed. I know I can use the 98 truck for the project, but if I can't, I would get a 95-97 truck and use the 98 tank and its assembly, for I know that will work. My problem is that I'm not sure if the 98 tank will fit the 95-97's.
If I can't find a 98 tank, will the 99-08's be O.k.? :hmm:

Why not just get a new tank, your choice of year and body style? Rockauto has them for sale for under a hundred bucks for the short bed. Get the '96/'97 metal sending unit and your choice of pumps (meaning you can mount anything from a stock pump to a high volume Walbro) and you've got it licked, with brand new parts that you know will work together and are in good shape, with warranty no less.

Yeah I would stick with the 97 and down tank, I can get a delphi new pump for my 97 for $70 locally instead of a $250-300 module like the 98's use.

$70?!? No ****? For a delphi? I need to check in town again, cause I swear I heard the guy at O'Reilly's say $150 or more.
