Frame member interferes with an engine swap

Hello:
I'm new here. Looking for thoughts about my 1994 C2500 Suburban. I might want to swap the 6.5L diesel for a Cummins 6BT. Was told by a conversion shop that I can't do it in the C2500 because there is a frame member in the way, whereas it's not a problem on a K2500 4x4. Can the frame member on the C2500 be modified so that I can install the Cummins?

Surf the net for some cummins pics. Find a dodge take some measurments. Finding pics of C models and K models less engine are everywhere. Compare the two. I'd do alot of pencil and paper before i turned any nuts and bolts. Good luck.
