With the tranny cooler lines being connected and being hardlines, I don't see you sliding it back. You will have to disconnect them. At that point you have basically removed the entire unit.

The alignment is not really an issue. The alignment dowel pins are there for that reason. And those tranny jacks have pivot adjust in 2 axis to help align everything.

It really depends on how much time you have on your hands and if that time is worth it to you. Probably can be done in a day, taking your time and a few beer here and there.

Here's the link I followed to guide me through the steps. It would be similar on your truck, but add the TCase work:
