I am looking at newer gen 6 lugs for my 91' and was wondering if this size would be too large.

He didn't say anything about his wheels, which is what I'd be worried about.A 265/65r18 tire is the exact same size as a 265/75r16 tire, except the rim size is different. So yes, they will fit on a stock 4x4/Z71 suspension.
He said newer gen 6 lugs. Which to me would mean late model. Backspacing would be almost identicalHe didn't say anything about his wheels, which is what I'd be worried about.

I like to call 'em "self-clearancing tires"35's would be shredded up the first turn! Or wheel wells
The Offset is 24mm I keep reading. Don't know the offset of the stock rims. That's a 31.6x10.4ish, should fit fine with some rubbing depending on your backspacing.
Figure out the offset of the wheel, that would be more important here.
EDIT: If they're stock 6-lugs off a newer Chevy the offset should be fine.
