Where do I find the entry point in the driver's side?

It's a flat sheet, semi formed. Are able to use a tape measure? What you see attached to the engine side either goes through the firewall or has hardware showing on the interior side. And you tell by what formed area your looking at on the engine side as the interior is the reverse of the engine side.

Old large cap HEI from a buick 350 with the TACH wire tapped. Fun fact, this wire isnt going to the dash. it goes about 2.5 feeet to the fender where it joins a plug of a bunch of other wires

YES. And if you dont have one of those, its also a convenient place to get various readings with a DVOM for various functions
