I'm Awesome
A similar OEM tool box was an option for the 1968 - 72 C10, but was on the right front corner of the bed side. I have seen this location used for a drop-down battery box on custom C10 builds. This made the engine compartment look so clean, with an "LS" engine swap, it appeared to not have enough parts to make it run or work. There is a lot of true talent out there.
Off Subject but...
If you would like to see a truly creative custom interior, go to youtubey, and type in:
64 Chevy C10 interiors by Shannon. He used components from Clayton Machine Works who makes & sells 6063-T0 billet aluminum parts from 1/4" square interior trim bars, door handles, dash vents, etc. It is a "Lokar" company.
Here is a photo of a re-furbished OEM tool box in a 1971 C10, I may not remember the year correctly.
